Porcelain shower wall installation

A quieter kind of bathroom.

Large-format porcelain gives a bathroom generous, continuous-looking surfaces. We help plan, fabricate and install shower wall panels for Chicago and suburban renovations, with attention to every corner, opening and transition.

01 / The approach

Think beyond the face of the slab.

Explore our work

The wall layout begins with the shower dimensions, valve positions and any niches or benches. We consider the pattern across adjoining panels and where joints meet the shower base, ceiling and glass. A beautiful material still needs a coordinated installation beneath and around it.

Porcelain panels are a finish, not a substitute for the shower’s waterproofing system. Discuss responsibility for preparation and waterproofing with your contractor before scheduling slab installation. We review the substrate and the selected product’s installation requirements as part of defining the work.

02 / In the details

Decisions worth making early.

01

Panels & corners

Include the full wall height, inside and outside corners, window openings and the route up any stairs.

02

Niches & fixtures

Confirm niche dimensions and plumbing trim before fabrication; late changes can affect a whole panel.

03

Glass & adjoining finishes

Coordinate shower glass, the base and floor transitions so the final dimensions work together.

We’ll look at the details.

These details help us discuss the scope, preparation and next steps. A drawing is welcome; a few clear photographs are a good start.

05 / Before we begin

A few useful answers.

Are slab shower walls completely seamless?

Not necessarily. Panel size, the room and access determine where joints are needed. We plan their placement deliberately rather than promising a joint-free shower.

Can you install porcelain over existing shower tile?

That needs a site-specific assessment. Existing conditions, waterproofing, substrate stability and manufacturer requirements determine the appropriate preparation.

When should we involve the slab installer?

Before niches, valves and glass dimensions are fixed. Early coordination helps avoid conflicts between a large panel layout and the other bathroom trades.
